Determine How Many Signs Your Parking Lot Needs
The number of accessible spaces commercial parking lots and garages must provide is calculated separately for each parking facility. One of six accessible parking spaces must be van accessible. The minimum number of handicap parking signs required, according to 2010 standards, is listed below. Note: There are separate accessibility requirements for hospital outpatient facilities, rehabilitation facilities, outpatient physical therapy facilities, and residential facilities.

Federal Sign Installation Requirements
Federal R7-8 Handicap Parking signs must be mounted 60 inches above the ground surface measured to the bottom of the sign. They can be easily mounted to our Steel Channel Posts.
Signs that Satisfy Federal and State Regulations
In addition to the Federal R7-8 sign, van accessible spaces must also feature a “van accessible” designation. While most states use the R7-8 handicap parking sign, other states, such as New York and New Jersey, require unique state compliant parking and/or penalty signs.
