During the summer of 2014, legislation was passed in New York, requiring the removal of the word “handicapped” from new or replaced state signage. In addition, the symbol of accessibility was altered to portray a more active individual. Old signs can be replaced on a gradual basis as needed, but all new signs should display the updated logo.
